Who else didn't enjoy reading the beautiful ones are not yet born?
I discovered during my Literature classes while in high school that one of the toughest things you can be asked to do was to summarize a very interesting book perhaps in five lines or in 100 words.
Now for a book like the beautiful ones are not yet born which till date ranks as one of the most boring books I have ever read, this was far easier because back then, you could pay anything to avoid its review or to get an abridged version of the book in order to save yourself the boredom of going through the motion.
I doubt if any of my classmates attempted any question on it in our high school certificate exams. But let's say you are asked to summarize prison break or a classic like or a classic like the Godfather or something you are passionate about, how do you do this?
In such a case, you would agree that brevity is indeed the soul of wit for if you can summarize your passion in 100 words or teach something abstract without being a bore, you are indeed witty. I have seen a lot of people knock the mickey out of an interesting story by making it too long. In the same way, I have also seen folks talk enthusiastically about a passion but fail to inspire the same enthuse in others because it was too long and complex. So if you are like me, with a short but intense attention span and scared of long write-ups and jargons, I promise to keep it short and simple. For in the words of Einstein, if you cannot explain it to a six-year-old, you do not understand it yourself.
It is on this note that I will like to bring you the highlights of what I shared in the past in other to keep you up to date with my future posts:
- Freshwater is a finite resource.
- Globally there is a looming freshwater scarcity and this will be more profound in Africa.
- By 2025, most Africans will be living in regions of severe water stress and scarcity.
- Contrary to popular belief in Nigeria, sinking a borehole is not the ultimate solution to the water crisis.
- Nigeria’s population density vs freshwater availability curve shows she will reach a critical point in 2033.
- The puzzle of slums means poor countries pay more for clean water than rich countries.
- If you have been using the popular pure water as a source of drinking water, this costs between US$ 50 to US$ 60 per cubic metres.
